Han Gang Again :)
I’m really glad I made friends here in Korea. This is especially because despite his jam packed schedule, my oppa is pretty much down to go somewhere like Han River and have a drink. Of course, since he had to drive we had to walk it off later, but it was still a pretty cool experience. Han River is soooo beautiful at night! And the 분위기… uh, I guess it loosely translates to...
today...
… for some reason I’m super tired today. I think I’ll just go back to YogurHolic again and read or something. Maybe, that unnie and oppa will be able to come out and talk… I definitely need the practice.
Speaking of practice, I realized I’m extremely out of practice when it comes to piano. I used to play so well. But then college came around and I no longer had...

O noes! Only 1 week left in Korea!! :(
Now that I think about it, there are a lot of things in and about Korea that I find very interesting. Some of them are pretty funny; other things are an utter mystery to me. For example, I seriously think Korean subway trains (지하철) sound like all the different vehicles from Star Wars. I’m not joking. Maybe I’m just a nerd like that?
Also, if you let a Korean person drive in...

Hongdae Free Market
This weekend, I think Hongdae is celebrating 10 years of having a free market. There were lots of art pieces on display. A bunch of bands were playing as well. The market, although it isn’t amazing all the way through, there’s definitely something for everybody. I got my gift shopping done there. I think the main appeal is that these are handmade items, all one of a kind, and...
Universities in Seoul
I always thought it would be interesting to visit and see other college campuses. I graduated from UCSD and I’ve visited UCR, UCSD, and a few other southern Californian college campuses. Seeing as I’m in Korea, I wanted to see how universities here differed from American ones. The first one I went to was Sookmyun Women’s University. My older cousin, Hayoung, attends the law...
so much for updates...
I was down in Jeju-do for about a week and stayed at my Grandma’s place. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have internet and people in Jeju don’t always lock their doors so I didn’t bother bringing my laptop. There’s a lot of stuff that happened, and a lot of adventures I experienced since then. I guess instead of going day by day, I’ll be going by the type of...

Korea 2011: Day 13... I think... 09-05-2011
So, from now on, since I’m losing track of how many days I’ve been in Korea, I’ll be using the dates as the title for my posts :)
Today I went to Itaewon again, but this time, I got off at the actual Itaewon station instead of the one before it (Noksapyeong I think). My cousin told me to look for the Itaewon Underground Market. It was partly underground. It was actually a mix...

Korea 2011: Day 12
Today I went with my cousin to Hongdae. Pretty much everything we planned on doing was an epic fail. There’s a Korean word for that, but I won’t put it here; I think it’s supposed to be slightly inappropriate. The first failure was No Sides. This is supposed to be a restaurant owned by a Japanese man, serving authentic Hiroshima style okonomiyaki. I had never had Okonomiyaki...
Last Day of School...
As I was wishing my co-workers good night, I heard Marshallpalooza partying hard as if it wasn’t the Friday before Finals week. That wasn’t particularly surprising. What was surprising and mildly amusing was the song they were playing at the time. It is an interesting trance/techno/whatever version of “Hava Nagila” and it made me smile. Specifically, it was this...
Korea 2011: Day 11
Today, I went to Dong dae mun (동대문) and Myung dong (명동). I didn’t take as many pictures today, but they wouldn’t have done justice to my trip today anyway.
First was Dongdaemun. I didn’t exactly know where I was going so I just went up through the first gate I came to from the subway. Turns out, I was walking straight towards the toy district. There were so many toys!! It...

Korea 2011: Day10
Today was the first cool day in a while. I’m guessing all over the Pacific rim there are steady heat waves, as if Summer refuses to give way to Autumn and is attempting a last stand before she must retire.
My mosquito bites no longer itch. Instead, they are just.. there. It’s like you can feel them there; they’re not itchy or irritating or tickly… ticklish? Um, they...
